I am honored to have been at the premier of the new documentary film Nureyev last night (and honored to be one of the expert interviewees in it).
Even if you don’t follow ballet, this story may be of interest. Born into a poor family in Russia in 1938, against his father’s wishes he rose to fame as a dancer. Defected to the west at the height of the Cold War. Tragically died of AIDs in 1993.
It’s politics, love, culture and of course incredible dancing, beautifully directed by BAFTA nominated Jacqui and David Morris.Ā
My contribution was to give context about the politics of the Space Race and the Cold War. Hearing my voice in the theater felt incredible.
I highly recommend!
