Urban Stargazing in London
This is a provoking project by the artist Oscar Lhermitte and his team, engaging with (well, this is my re-wording) light pollution in urban environments and how it prevents our ability to see stars (with the subtext of those stars representing the universe, distance and time, and organic rather than built environments, etcetera). The project is being presented at the Arts Catalyst Kosmika event on Thursday the 6th of October (free, book online through their website), but personally I’m looking forward to going out to see the actual installations–recreations of star constellations, suspended in the air and visible only at night to the naked eye around London. Further details are on the Urban Stargazing website.
